Regals enter new season with new look

The Guelph Jr. B Regals will be entering the 2024 season with a bit of a different look.

The team unveiled its new jerseys this past Saturday at the “Meet the Team Pasta Dinner” hosted by the Guelph Optimist Club. The team was officially introduced in front of family, friends, and fans before players did their best waiter impressions serving dinner to the guests.

After dinner, Regals players Dylan Davey and Reid MacDonald put on the new jerseys to unveil to the crowd. Some notable differences on the new jerseys include a revamped crest logo, a lion’s claw on each sleeve, a new “GR” shoulder patch logo, and a claw mark on the back of the jersey behind the numbers.

The jerseys officially made their debut in a game at Victoria Road Arena in yesterday’s 10-7 victory over Wallaceburg. Fans will have a chance to catch them in action again this Friday, April 26 when the Welland Generals visit the Royal City.

2024 Tryout Runs

With a 2023 that saw several new records for the Regals, the 2024 Junior B Lacrosse season is quickly approaching and so does the teams focus.

The Guelph Jr. B Regals will kick off their 2024 Tryout Runs February 25 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville. The first four runs will be joint runs with the Oakville Buzz, Guelph’s affiliate in Junior A, before breaking off into invitational runs later in March.

2024 CAMP DATES:

Sunday, February 25 – 3:00 – 4:30 PM – TRAC (Oakville)

Sunday, March 3 – 6:00 – 7:30 PM – TRAC

Sunday, March 10 –  6:00 – 7:30 PM – TRAC

Sunday, March 17 – 6:00 – 7:30 PM – TRAC

Sunday, March 24 – 5:00 – 7:00 PM  – Queensmount Arena (Kitchener)

Sunday, March 31 – 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM – Queensmount Arena

Saturday, April 6  – All Day – Elora Tournament

Monday, April 8 –  7:30 –  9:00 PM – Victoria Road Arena (Guelph)

There is a cost of $10 per run that can be paid in-person prior to the sessions, which are open to anyone (see below whether a Permission letter is needed).

It is important to know that all players must register with the OLA before stepping on the floor (free to register). This can be done the same way as previous years at https://www.sportzsoft.com/regApp/Login?OrgId=6860 .

Once logged in, simply select the Junior “B” tab and Guelph when registering. Please note that if you are underage and still a Minor U17, you will not be able to register this way and will instead just need to be registered at Minor to participate in these runs.

After these Camp dates and games, the club will be selecting its roster and continue practicing leading up to the season opener on April 21.

If you are not a resident of Guelph and were not signed to the Jr. B Regals in 2023, you will need a Permission to Run letter from your home centre.

Looking to build off a strong 2023 campaign, the Regals are expecting another very competitive camp with the goal of winning a championship this season.

For any questions, players are encouraged to reach out to Assistant General Manager Thomas Miller or General Manager Matt Pelkey.
